Testimonials

My two daughters, Amanda and Christen, have been training with Heather for four and one year respectively.  Heather is widely acknowledged as an outstanding teacher and she works exceptionally well with children.  Both of my girls were very young beginners when they first started and both have become accomplished riders under Heather’s direction.  Heather takes great pride in her work, and this shows through in all she does.  She prudently maintains very high standards for technical competence and safety.  She very competently knows when to push her students to the next level and when to take a step back to the basics.  She is certainly not a passive trainer.  If necessary, she will resort to physical demonstration by mounting a horse herself in mid-lesson to make sure her students clearly understand what she is trying to convey.  All of her students are confident and proficient riders at their respective levels.

Heather is also a strong proponent of exposing her students to a full equestrian experience.  Her lessons do not begin or end in the ring.  She is particularly generous with her time, often spending valuable hours teaching her students (and occasionally their parents) about a wide range of topics from horse behavior to tack.  Invariably, Heather’s students develop a strong bond with horses which should last a lifetime.

I have been riding with Heather for 15 years. Through those years she has always been a constant source of support and friendship as well as a great trainer and horsewoman. She has always pushed me to ride to my potential, and even though she always expects the best, she is still considerate of the hard times that sometimes come with riding. There has not been a blue ribbon or a bad ride that Heather has not helped me earn or helped me get through, always trying new methods and ideas to make my horse and I better individually and as a team.

She is not afraid to try new things and expand her own knowledge as a rider and a trainer in order to help her students excel. I can say with all certainty that without her I would not be the rider I am today.

I have had a great opportunity to have Heather as my trainer and my close friend for many years. Her knowledge in teaching and training is very rewarding. She has taught me great training methods working with my horse from the ground and in the saddle. I have gone from a beginner to an advanced rider due to her training. She has given me the inspiration to want to keep learning more about riding. She has taught me to ride with confidence and trust that every horse and rider should have. She is a trainer that is always willing to learn new techniques and pass them on to her clients and their horses. I am very lucky to have her as my trainer and close friend

My horse and I have been fortunate enough to be working with Heather for over a year now. We had both sustained injuries and Heather designed programs to keep us both active and engaged as we worked towards recovery. In my experience Heather's extensive knowledge of humans and horses enables her to teach outside the box in ways that are fun, safe, appropriate and individually suited to the individual horse rider team. Her clear and patient teaching style and her emphasis on the whys of behavior and anatomy help develop trust, understanding and confidence in both horse and human.

For those that are interested in developing a relationship with their horse that encompasses more than just 'get on and go' then Heather is the professional you're looking for. She is a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a quality instructor.

Working with Heather, gave me the confidence to buy my horse Doc. I am a totally inexperienced horse owner. I feel like Heather is my guide. My trust in her knowledge and ability to teach, both on and off the horse is huge. I love how she reads and respects her students. She teaches with clarity only giving what the student can handle. I love riding with Heather. I hear her voice in my head when she is not with me.

Heather made me realize that being light in your hands, leg and seat gets results. It has made me a better rider and now I have respect from my horse. I feel we are a team, trying to achieve our best. I trust him now. I look forward to our lessons each and every week. Heather explains what she is asking me a to do and why she's having me do it. She has a lot of patience. Thank you, Heather for giving me back my confidence!!
