| Regardless of weather
you ride for pleasure, compete for ribbons or money in any riding
discipline, we all want to gain a better relationship with our horses.
After all it takes both rider and horse acting in harmony to have a
pleasurable ride or to win in competition. This sought after
relationship between horse and rider can only be achieved thorough
knowledge and proper training techniques. |
| |
|
| What many horsemen do not realize,
is the importance of the foundation building towards that better
relationship. Building the
foundation does not start in the saddle but rather from the ground.
An analogy would be teaching someone a dance without teaching the
dance steps. |

|
| |
|
| I know through
competent teaching important building blocks for horse and rider are
established. These steps are important to prepare you and your horse
for the future. Whether you don’t want your horse not to spook on the
trail or you want yours hose to half pass across the ring is all
achieved by the setting of the proper foundations for both
horse and rider. These same foundations will not only achieve a horse
that will not spook on the trial or a horse that can perform high end
movements regardless of riding discipline, it will also bring soft and
responsive cues to the horse and rider. As the building blocks are
learned the horse and the rider become more balanced allowing each an
opportunity to perform a higher and more comfortable level. |
| |
|
|

|
Our horses can only do as much as we
ask of them depending on how much we have taught them. Likewise, a
rider can only ask the horse to perform at the level that the rider
has been trained. Neither horse nor rider can exceed their potential
of peek performance if one or the other lacks the basic knowledge of
communication between horse and rider. |
| |
|
|
I believe that through properly taught basics a horse
can be taught how to learn. Learning how to learn trough proper
training techniques accelerates the learning curve for the horse and
allows the horse to become an eager partner who desirers to please and
perform. With this willingness to learn the horse then can be taught
more advanced skills. |

I have been riding with Heather for 15
years. Through those years she has always been a constant source of
support and friendship as well as a great trainer and horsewoman. She
has always pushed me to ride to my potential, and even though she
always expects the best, she is still considerate of the hard times
that sometimes come with riding. There has not been a blue ribbon or a
bad ride that Heather has not helped me earn or helped me get through,
always trying new methods and ideas to make my horse and I better
individually and as a team. |

| She is not afraid to try
new things and expand her own knowledge as a rider and a trainer in
order to help her students excel. I can say with all certainty that
without her I would not be the rider I am today. |

I have had a great opportunity to have
Heather as my trainer and my close friend for many years. Her
knowledge in teaching and training is very rewarding. She has taught
me great training methods working with my horse from the ground and in
the saddle. I have gone from a beginner to an advanced rider due to
her training. She has given me the inspiration to want to keep
learning more about riding. She has taught me to ride with confidence
and trust that every horse and rider should have. She is a trainer
that is always willing to learn new techniques and pass them on to her
clients and their horses. I am very lucky to have her as my trainer
and close friend |

My horse and I have
been fortunate enough to be working with Heather for over a year
now. We had both sustained injuries and Heather designed programs
to keep us both active and engaged as we worked towards recovery.
In my experience Heathers extensive knowledge of humans and horses
enables her to teach outside the box in ways that are fun, safe,
appropriate and individually suited to the individual horse rider
team. Her clear and patient teaching style and her emphasis on the
whys of behavior and anatomy help develop trust, understanding and
confidence in both horse and human. |

Heather made me realize that being
light in you hands, leg and seat gets results. It has made me a better
rider and now I have respect from my horse. I feel we are a team,
trying to achieve our best. I trust him now. I look forward to our
lessons each and every week. Heather explains what she is asking me a
to do and why she's having me do it. She has a lot of patience. Thank
you, Heather for giving me back my confidence!! |

Working With Heather, gave me a the
confidence to buy my horse Doc. I am a totally inexperienced horse
owner. I feel like Heather is my guide. My trust in her knowledge
and ability to teach, both on and off the horse is huge. I love how
she reads and respects her students. She teaches with clarity only
giving what the student can handle. I love riding with Heather. I
hear her voice in my head when she is not with me. |
